The Government has announced the third Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy (CWIS3), setting out bold new targets and a delivery plan to create thousands of new walking, wheeling and cycling routes across England.

By 2035, 55% of short journeys will be walked, wheeled or cycled, and 60% of children aged 5 to 16 will travel actively to school.

Active Travel England will play a central role in delivering this – working with local authorities to create 5,000 new routes to schools and shops as well as 10,000 safer crossings by 2030.

We have launching Worth Every Step, our plan for how we will deliver. By making walking, wheeling and cycling the cheapest and easiest way to get from A to B, we’re helping shape streets and places that work better for everyone.

It’s time to make the cheapest and healthiest way to travel, the easiest way to travel.
