Crossing the Loir near Saint Nazaire brings similar choices as crossing the Pont de Normandie https://www.reddit.com/user/OneCause2949/. Of course the Eurovelo 1 avoids this by taking the route to Nantes, but if you want a faster way to the coast going south you have to cross the Loire. The bikelane on the Pont de Saint Nazaire looks even more narrow than on the Pont de Normandie. There seem to be some bus options though. But I found the ferry from Couëron to Le Pellerin a good alternative. Yoi can leave the EV1 e.g. at Fay-de-Bretagne and navigate to Le Couëron and pick up the EV1 again after crossing the Loire.

I live in Nantes and I confirm very good option to cross the Loire river and if you have time Nantes downtown not far away from the crossing point worth a visit 😉

Do not take the bridge in Saint Nazaire. It’s really scary. The bacs de la Loire in Couëron-Le Pellerin, or a few kilomètres further in Indre are free and run every 15 minutes or so.
