Hello 🙂

I’ve just been handed this bikeframe for free. I don’t know a lot about roadbikes but I do recognise both Ultegra and 105 from shimano. As you can see from the images there are no wheels and no cassette. I’ve done a bit of bike maintenance previously and have a technical education so I am relatively confident in taking stuff apart and putting it back together clean/lubricated. How good are my odds of having a new bike if purchasing wheels, cassette and probably a new chain, if I do a thorough clean? As far as I can tell pre-clean there are no cracks in the frame. Also is there anything I really shouldn’t take apart, I’m thinking stuff like shifters or the derailleur. Thanks in advance for any advice 🙂

Clean it up, throw on the missing components and you’ll have a great bike I bet!! Fun little project

I had a cube gtc agree. Was a great bike that did me many miles before I upgraded.
Do a complete strip down. Upgrade the BB to something like a token ninja.
Swisstop evo BXP pads, set of Nissen cables, a good aluminium track wheelset with some good rubber on it and you’ll have a very decent ride.

Clean it, inspect for any cracks around BB area, chainstays, and fork steerer tube. If all looks good that begin building yourself a new used bike. This frame looks solid. Congrats!
