We just landed in Helsinki… but instead of exploring Finland’s capital, we did what thousands of visitors do every day: we left.
Just a two-hour ferry ride across the Baltic Sea lies Tallinn, Estonia, a beautifully preserved medieval city that somehow feels like stepping back in time. So naturally, we had to find out… is leaving Helsinki actually the best thing to do?
In this video, we’re spending one day exploring Tallinn’s storybook Old Town with the help of a local guide, wandering centuries-old cobblestone streets, climbing to some incredible viewpoints, trying traditional Estonian food, and discovering why this UNESCO World Heritage Site has become one of Europe’s most popular day trips.
Whether you’re planning your own trip to Helsinki and wondering if Tallinn is worth the ferry ride, putting together a Baltic itinerary, or simply love discovering incredible places around the world, we hope this video inspires your next adventure!

Absolutely gorgeous little village and guide! Thank you for sharing these beautiful places. π«Ά
Just a side note, if churches would open schools they will survive. π
Definitely need to add the Baltics to my list now! π And sign me up for that Medieval restaurant!! The schnapps tasting looks like an adventure in itself π
Also – your hair looks ππ― (both of you) in this video ππ
What a wonderful place, thanks for sharing this, guys! I've had Estonia on my "must see" list for years now, and seeing your adventure there inspires me to go sooner than later! Several years ago, I went on a cruise of the Baltics, and while it was great, for some inexplicable reason, it did NOT include Tallin, much to my disappointment. So, seeing your fun there truly inspires me to get there!! I'll even look up your tour guide, Stan, who looked awesome. Love your vlog!
What a great video! That dining experience at the end is so crazy!
π΅ I'm just wild about saffron π΅ Or maybe not in your case π
Wow, this place looks like a story book! My husband visited in the winter and said the Christmas market is incredible, so a visit is now on my bucket list. Stan was a delight, and we would love to take his tour. Natalie, love your face with that last flavor of schnapps (caraway?).

You guys are so funny π, that mid-evil restaurant looked crazy ..some the faces that Nat was making broke me up ..You guys are so fun to watch ..β€ thankyou from north Knoxville ..Go VOLS π
So much fun!!! Thanks for taking us along!! Stan was a local treasure πππ₯°π₯°
Chris and Kristy again, we always take our phone (camera) to the bathroom in Europe. We always see something weβve never seen before. Also, Stan seemed awesome. Have fun. Safe travels.
What a fantastic place. Never even thought about going there, but now I want to go and see all that incredible history. What a fantastic tour guide too. Thank you for showing me such a cool place. I absolutely want to dine like a guest of a rich merchant such a glorious experience.
We did this in 2015 on a 2 week trip. Flew into & out of Stockholm with overnight ferries between there and Helsinki. One of our days in Helsinki was a day trip to Tallinn. If I did it again I think we would stay in Tallin and do a day trip to Helsinki. In Tallin we ate at III Draakon which was similar although it was self-service which had the benefit of being more affordable. I remember that their house brewed beer was very good and if I recall the lady at the counter was a bit rude (keeping in character with the medieval theme) when we weren't exactly sure what we wanted & ready to order at. I highly recommend III Draakon
Wow! Another great video, adding to my bucket list. This could be a Christmas Market Trip π€ . I love restaurants like that.
You two are so absolutely amazing! Love watching your videos, and even more, love, watching how you two vibe together, and love each other so much! β€π
Tallinn is the jewel of the Baltics. The place is next level. Helsinki in Finland is on another level as well. The Nordic countries and Baltic states are the most underrated places in Europe.
Hello from Gatlinburg πππ
Looks like matching colors of socks and skirt and his hat.
You two put such a smile on this old man's face. I love it when your videos pop up. This one has made my night. Life is all about new adventures.
I would love to do this! I have been researching my family history for 30 years and have a distant direct ancestor from the early 1600s that was from Tallinn, a member of the Baltic German nobility.
I love finding destinations I'd never considered before. This was such a great recommendation!

happy early 4th guys
the tour guide is a laugh a minute
I betcha the tour guide is happy when he gets out of his costume and rests
reminds me of King Arthur's Court in Vegas
I wonder how they wash the dishes
You've done it again! Another place to see well, you know. Looked awesome, and fun too! Great Vlog!
Video looks amazing!! Did yβall get a new camera recently???
Stanislav is a Russian colonist, not an Estonian.
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is massively hated by Estonians as it's seen as a symbol of Russian imperialism.
Ja miks te linnast vΓ€lja ei sΓ΅ida rendiautoga? Oleks videosid ja enda harimist rohkem olnud? Kohalik Eestlane.
Tallinn is definitely worth a visit! (But I do hope you came back to Helsinki to spend a bit of time in my home city as well β it's not bad either π )

What a fun tour guide!
Hey Matt & Nat, I noticed your videos are getting solid views, but I think the thumbnails could be pulling a higher click-through rate.
I redesigned one of your thumbnails as an example and would be happy to send it over.
If you like it, I can create a few more for you. Let me know.
Kind regards
Great to see you both again!!!
Great looking place and your guide was a hoot. Thanks for taking us along
Tallinn is AMAZING!! You have to go back in Winter for their Winter Market which is so beautiful and quaint. They have biker santas that get on stage and sing. It is quite the vibe π
