I have a 1.25" Equip-D' rack from 1UP with a 2" adapter. Has anyone found a solution to a "security bolt" that will work with 1UP's Equip D' rack? Or another way to secure the bike rack to your hitch to avoid it being stole?
I had no idea that the security bolt was not compatible with the EQ rack, but it is with every other rack… Seems like a poor design choice. Not to mention that there is no way to lock the rack to the hitch with a hitch lock…
Has anyone found a "security bolt" they use for their rack to prevent tampering or theft?
Have you found a way to secure the rack to your hitch? (that isn't drilling a hole)

I have the lock that blocks the bolt so no one can loosen the rack from the hitch, effectively locking it. Not sure if this works with the 2in adapter.
Nonetheless, that security bolt is doing nothing. You can buy a bit for that for a few bucks.
I have a similar rack and have been meaning to look for a trailer pin lock that would fit. I just haven’t gotten around to measure the length needed and look for the lock. But maybe give that a try.
I saw this on Facebook not too long ago. Says it’s supposed to be in production, but there isn’t a link to buy it yet. Maybe email them.

Yeah I used to have the 2″ pin hitch lock and thieves snapped that off and stole the rack despite the “security” bolt.
Now I have a thick motorcycle chain and mini u-Lock holding the rack onto the hitch. If I’m going somewhere extra-sketchy I add another big u-lock. It could still be cut but that would be much louder than snapping off the hitch lock.
I used a u-lock with my HD rack. Would that work the Equip-D?
If you only use it in a 2 inch hitch, swap the hitch bar. It’s a much more stable interface and allows you to use a standard hitch locking pin for security.

Honestly, i just take mine off and store it inside when not in use. No matter how you try to lock it on, if you leave it outside overnight someone can steal it.
