I have planned this trip from Denmark to Netherlands!

Its my first international biketour so all tips and tricks are welcome!
I’m looking for input with sleeping in Germany and Netherlands, I have a 1 person tent with me and packed really minimalistic. Hotels and camping if possible but what if I can’t find a camping Ground ?

Are there anything special i should be aware of before I leave ?

I’ve backpacked for many years and I am used to sleeping outside from my career as a soldier so No issues with the whole fixing as i go.

Thanks in advance guys!

What to do if You can’t find a camping ground: take the train/taxi/bus. Lock your bike and get back tomorrow

  2. Are you sure that’s a good route? Take a look at opencyclemap, a lot of official bike paths are mapped on there, including Eurovelo and German D-Route.

Maybe also take some time to find and mark all adjacent campsites on Google maps. It should be quite easy to find one at least every 50km, and having all the options prepared makes touring a lot less stressful.

  3. I did a similarish route and the parts of Germany you’re going through is very sparse city wise so unless you’re camping there’s going to be a lot of nothing just farms

  4. I’m looking at your route and think of the prevailing winds in that part of the world, which are mostly westerly/south-westerly. I hope you’re going back that way to make up for the outward headwinds.
