  1. This is one of the few positive frame mods I’ve seen, as you have good sense of welding in rebar to reinforce the dropout, unlike others making disc brake conversions.

    You need optional hand positions on long rides. Got 19 bikes, been through 32, and have 52 handlebars. As you might guess, I’ve spent a lot of time testing different bar types. (Retired 8 years – setting up different bike arrangements and trying different parts is my only hobby) Flat bars are great for handling but are the worst for long rides of any style of bar. I’ve put on bar ends or Ergon grips with the built in bar end and ride with hands on the bar end every 10 minutes or so. That is usually all it takes to make long rides easier.
