I commute to work 16 kilometers there and back. Some weeks I use a 25kph limited e-bike and sometimes just a normal gravel bike. Some pros and cons of both and why I prefer the e-bike.
The E-bike is just easier. The lights are powered by the battery, I can carry heavier loads, I don’t sweat, it feels safer cause I feel like I keep more focused on the world around me. When I get to work I feel more focused and not tired. Also no hill really matters, it flattens out the ride. Sometimes I’ll take a longer route just for fun.
My gravel bike is fun, light, I get a great workout, and I can carry it easier up my stairs. When I ride it, I do limit weight in my bag, sometimes the light batteries die, I’m more focused on riding than safety, I get to work drenched. I do feel that the less weight makes the ride feel less bumpy and surface changes don’t matter as much. Hills can hurt and I tend to take the fastest route.
Both are great and it’s preference but if anyone is on the fence, I hope this helps. You do still get a workout on this type of e-bike but not near as much as an apology bike.

Don’t the benefits of the eBike only apply below 25km/h?
On the Gravel bike you probably easily go faster than 25km/h.
I want to bike for fitness so I mostly prefer using an “analog” bike, but I see the appeal of e-bikes. I am wishing I had a good e-bike to use for next week where its going to be more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit in my city for a few days haha. Might have to just take the bus for a bit.
Both your bikes are great and i see you chose one. But frankly 16 kilometers nothing . Get yourself panniers your commute would be much easier
Honestly ideal to have both for different days i think is the main take away.
Would you rather look back in a year and see dramatic improvements in your health?
Damn DT Swiss wheels and pinion gearbox? Nicest e-bike I’ve ever seen
How long do the batteries on the ebike last ? They look like skinny batteries
that Stanton tho..
