Cut it this morning as I was headed out of town for a ride- also ran over a small nail at the same time.
I run tubes and played it safe – threw a new one on and slow rolled it ~5 miles back home okay (I was out too early to get a new tire at an LBS) but my gut tells me this cut is deep/long enough to create blowout risk.
Your validation/disagreement is greatly appreciated!

No, I would consider patching this from the inside and continue to ride it. They make tire patches for this. Obviously test it first, if it visibly bulges etc, replace. The weakest point of a tire is the sidewall, not the middle.
No it’s fine, you just need some duct tape.
To be honest, I would probably still ride it. The rubber doesn’t contribute very much to the structure of a tire, so as long as the casing underneath is intact, it’s probably okay.
Right
Not around here. Those lips would sip up little bits of glass and chert like it was sipping a cup of tea. But I wouldn’t worry about a blowout unless the fabric has been sliced. I don’t like slicks anyway cuz I don’t how thick they are.
