I feel overpacked, have plenty of room in and on panniers and have ridden 18 miles a day with approximately the 3/4 weight – what do I cut? can I get by with a hammock and rainfly or do I really need this three person tent I’m borrowing… im staying at proper campsites most nights … pitch may not have proper trees for hammock – that would mean ground camping under a makeshift rainfly lean-to in relatively bug intense coastal canals and beaches of the lowlands…

I have obv. never bikepacked before. But maybe no need for the sandals? Or whatever they are called😅 (almost at top left corner)
Wy y’all always leave amsterdam biking and i never get invited?🥺
Three shoes seems like a lot, do you really need the stuffed dog also? Also seems like a lot of clothing, also if you aren’t sure you can hammock camp every night I would keep the tent and leave the hammock.
Are you packing…8 apples? That’s got to be a couple of pounds right there. Leave those at home and grab fresh food on route, just pack dried or dehydrated food.
Is that a guitar or another instrument? If you’re considering bringing that you might want to just stop asking “am I overpacked” questions, as “traveling light” already left the building.
3 pairs of footwear is a lot. I’d do 1 pair of on-bike (assuming you ride clipped-in) and 1 pair of off-bike footwear. If I rode flat pedals I’d just do 1 pair of footwear.
A 3-person tent might be overkill, but can’t speak to if a hammock would work for you. Could definitely try it. I ride with a 2P tent, inflatable mat, sleeping bag.
Do you need 2 giant water bladders? Won’t water refills be commonly available on your route? My understanding of touring/bikepacking in western Europe was that public water sources are basically everywhere.
Your electronics bag looks a bit much.
Do I see 2 pairs of long-fingered gloves? Do you need them both?
I guess it’s this summer, hence all the water. I would ditch one if the water bladders though. Where’s nowhere wild enough between Paris and Amsterdam, you can refill every hour if needed.
Well understood you’re going to a wedding, it’s normal to be on the high side (clothes, etc…)
I hear that it’s super hot right now. Hope you can ride in some shade. If you think you can find markets along the way, I’d take just 1-2 days of food and re-supply along the way. Also, can you get by with just two pairs of shoes, one to ride and one at the campsite? Or is one pair for the wedding? Best of luck!
Honestly, that’s an absurd amount of stuff for five days. Here’s where to cut:
– Ditch the two big water bladders. Two bottles should be plenty in such a populated area.
– Ditch one pair of shoes. You need one pair to ride in and the sandals for walking around the campsite. That’s it.
– It’s not clear, but do you have a tent and a hammock? Just bring one.
– Eight apples? Pack two or three and buy more along the way. I’m general, you have more food than you need. I doubt your route is so remote that you’ll go more than a day without passing a store.
– For clothes, pack two sets for riding and one change of clothing for off the bike. Its summer, so you don’t need much in the way of warm clothes unless there a cold front in the forecast.
– The instrument is unnecessary but if you want to bring it, that’s up to you.
– Keep the stuffed animal.
