I always ride with high vis – either a [full jacket](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/ytirvDHqSu4UKEBaw5v7tA.jpg), or [straps](https://btrsports.co.uk/cdn/shop/products/BTR144yellowDAY_b330b350-e6ee-43b5-872e-89dfe1672324_2000x.jpg?v=1627030671) depending on how I’m feeling.

However I’ve just found out about these [light up vests](https://847runningcompany.com/cdn/shop/products/image_ab57aad8-81fc-4a0f-867e-df6a4393d338_1024x1024@2x.png?v=1666448684) – specifically the [Noxgear Tracer2](https://www.noxgear.com/tracer2).

Does anyone have any experience with these? They look pretty cool, comfortable and eye-catching. Wondering if this could be a full replacement for a a high vis jacket/vest, or if it’s only really effective at night.

  1. Make your ankles or feet more visible if you want to be recognized as a bike. The motion of your feet is very distinctive, and because it moves in a different pattern than ‘forward with traffic’ drivers can understand what you are. Reflectors work great at this and never run out of batteries.

I wear a night reflective pack cover from proviz – the level of illumination that comes from it is just amazing.

  2. I wore my noxgear until it died on me (5+ years old, so a good life). It definitely made me more noticeable in the dark. It wouldn’t be bright enough to matter during the day, though
