This is my daily ride, aMarin Stinson 1. The drivetrain started clunking, so after checking the pedals, seatpost, and chain, I figured it was time to check the bb. Well the threads stripped, and none of my flywheel pullers fit, so I had to resort to cutting it off. That sucked, aluminum dust everywhere and my freaking out hoping I wasn't going to slip and cut the frame.
Turns out the bb was only hand tight on the non-drive side. So I'm riding my MTB until new parts come in.
Good times. Sigh.

This is the second post I’ve seen today of someone destroying a crank 🥺
Did you even try a crank puller?
How are people butchering cranks like this- second one I have seen today.
I’ve stripped a few old crank arms trying to chase and remove a crank but never once did I think – well let’s get a saw and go to town.
The first time I did it I got a pickle fork for 15 bucks and popped the arm off…
Some of y’all should just not work on bikes this is why your LBS exists
You can cut a crank spindle in less that a minute with a cutoff wheel.
Going for a light ride could have helped in breaking the interference fit of the crank. An automotive bearing puller or a rubber mallet are also valid alternatives before resorting to the angle grinder.
Stuart, as it turns out, does not know best.
