I treated my bike to a new set of tyres, including a fresh tubeless setup (rim tape, valves, sealant). I was heartbroken when I wanted to ride it the next day. Both of the wheels lost more than 1 bar overnight.

Rim and valves are sound, the air is escaping through the sidewall (see the bubbles on the photo). I used 50ml Muc-Off "No puncture hassle" sealant per wheel and let it sit on both side a couple of hours before installing them back. This approach worked perfectly for the previous tyre set (Schwalbe G-One Bite).

I'm a bit clueless what to do next. Is this my fault? What can I do? Send them back? Ask for new tyres? Order tubes?

  1. Some tubeless tyres still need a layer of sealant to work properly -pump them up and ride again, it can take a while to settle

  2. 50 sounds a bit low, I use 100 per tire on these wide tires. Also: go on a ride on the neighborhood to get all the sealant spread around

  3. 1 bar over night is quite a bit but not over dramatic I’d say. I would just ride them some time and see how it develops. Maybe it is just my perseption, but my Tubeless setups change quite a bit regarding how much pressure they loose.

  4. Some tyres are more thirsty than others, add some milk and do the procedure you described again. You can find a good description on the Rene Herse website as well. Those tyres need a bit more sealant as well

  5. 50ml for a tire is pretty low, even for thinner ones.

There’s likely not enough sealant left because part of it went into to rubber and even that failed evidently.
