I'm looking for advice on my first mountain bike. Originally I was looking at the Trek Roscoe 8 due to the price. But I'm not really sure if that's the move. I live in Oregon and I mostly see people riding full suspension. But I quickly learned that to get a full suspension with all the specs of the Roscoe I would have to spend 5k plus. So I started looking at the Trek Fuel ex 5 gen 7. From what I can tell it is a bit down graded from the Roscoe but it's a full suspension vs hard tail. I've been riding dirt bikes, and street bikes my whole life and wanna get into mountain bikes but I don't wanna pay 10k. The Roscoe is $2,400 and the Fuel ex5 is $3000. I guess my question is go with the hard tail and be set or go with a full suspension and probably need to upgrade things later? I also was looking at the fuel ex 8 but that is 4k and I was really looking to spend 3k but if it's worth it I'd consider it.

just get a hardtail until you actually know what you’re looking for
Sounds like you will be happier with the full suspension. The myth of having to upgrade is just that, a myth.
If you get the hardtail you will have fun. But you will be limited in terms of comfort. If you get full suspension you will have fun with the option to ride faster without taking a beating. Whichever you get will be fine and you won’t know the difference in the parts unless you ride a 5k plus bike. Honestly the only upgrade in drive train I ever noticed was lighter/stiffer wheels. Everything else is just modest gains for lots of money.
Honestly at those prices I would keep an eye out for a good deal on a used bike. You can get a pretty sweet bike for $2500 if you look around and are patient.
Go with full suspension. But also check Facebook marketplace. I got a previous gen Trek Slash 8 for less than 1/2 what it goes for new and absolutely love it. The stuff the full suspension can do will blow your mind. Mine chews up the craziest stuff… the only limiting factor is me being a clumsy/cautious rider lol.
I mean, get a used ex9 or whatever for the same price. Buying new is for suckers.
