  1. witnesswithout on

I like the look of this new steamroller a lot but the $700 pricetag for a 4130 frame with 38 clearance in 2026 seems a little heavy. There seems to be plenty of other bikes with similar geo or better clearnance or Reynolds tubing at better price points. If OP or anyone could offer some insight I’d really appreciate it, I’m trying to pick up a steel frame in the next few weeks.

  2. Preface; cool looking bike, cool brand, happy for you op.

So I’m a fairly basic fixed gear rider, I just have an 09 Kona Paddy Wagon, what seems to be the point of the Steamroller?

The SS is the same as mine, like it doesn’t seem that it’d be meant for the track, there’s no mounts for racks, not too much in the way of clearance either? I can already fit 32mm without fenders. I just don’t get what the hype is about.

Genuinely, can someone explain? I like my Paddy Wagon since it’s my first and only fixed gear, but I definitely would not buy it brand new even for commuting, which is what I do 99% of the time with it. I’d rather get something either closer to a “track inspired frame” to go fast, or something with mounts for both fenders and racks for commuting or at least +40mm clearance.
