I’ve been back in England for two weeks and there’s one thing I’ve been missing while travelling around South America – a proper full English breakfast!

Before heading out to do deliveries on what could be the hottest day of the year, I take a walk through my hometown of Darlington in the North East of England. Along the way we pass the Hippodrome Theatre, Market Square, the famous Clock Tower, old Victorian buildings, pubs, shops and a few local landmarks before finally stopping at Wetherspoons for breakfast.

Darlington is a traditional English market town with a rich railway history, and on a sunny summer morning it looks very different to the image many people have of northern England.

Join me for a wander around town, a full English breakfast and a glimpse of everyday life back home.

I am an older backpacker travelling the world proving that backpacking is not just for the younger generation.

  1. Oh my goodness, I couldn't possibly eat all that, not even for lunch, much less for breakfast… Lol…
In Buenos Aires, our hot summer days reach 40°C. So, if you had 30°C or less, believe me, that's not hot at all… Lol.

How beautiful that 12th-century church spire looks! We don't have anything that old, because the Spanish conquistadors arrived here in the 15th and 16th centuries.

It's so nice to have such a clean stream, with wildlife and natural native vegetation, not planted by humans. Enjoy it because you don't find that in every city or town.

I hope you had a good day. Take care.

  2. THE CLOCK TOWER IS BEAUTIFUL!! THOSE ARE THE PHOTOS FROM DARLINGTON I HAVE SEEN. APPARENTLY, THE HEAT WAVE OVER EUROPE MADE ITS WAY TO ENGLAND. STAY SAFE.

  3. Thanks for the tour, Stu! Hope to be back to Darlington by mid September! I really miss it! Stay safe on your delivery’s.

  4. Darlington looks like a good, untouristed example of an English town. If I ever return to England, I will visit. Doesn't appear to have a hostel, so maybe I can stay with you, Stu !

  5. Hi stu… Stumbled across your channel by accident shortly before your travels… Great content mate keep up the good work…
PS fellow MonteDarlo resident here 😂

  6. Es admirable tu país, han sido un faro de conocimiento para la humanidad, en todas las ciencias, y sos un digno heredero del coraje de tus ancestros, cuando daban la vuelta al mundo en esos cutters incansablemente

  7. Great walk and talk Stu.
A lot of people criticise Wetherspoons but that breakfast was true value in a modern world.
Would love a tour of the old St Cuthberts church and graveyard.

  8. I grew up in Darlo and lived there for 30 years before moving to the US. I remember the High Row being absolutely packed back in the 80s and 90s mate. Especially on a Saturday. Sad to see Darlo looking like a Ghost town. I was last there at Xmas and it was dead a week before Xmas. Wtf happened to my hometown ? 😔

  9. Hi friend, nice video. I have a question about the food: do an egg, a piece of bread, or a steak taste the same in your town as they do in Argentina, or do you notice any difference?

  10. I recently came across your channel and honestly felt your effort deserves much better results than what you’re seeing right now.
