Looking for my first road bike for triathlon training (sprints this year and Ironman 70.3 next year) and I came across this listing on FB marketplace.
I am new to biking, but I have heard a lot of rave reviews about CAAD12 here and the CAAD tax.
This vehicle is a 2018 model year with ~300 miles on it, but it doesn’t seem to have disc brakes and wasn’t used much (although it comes with Shimano Ultegra which seems to be better than 105?)
Is it worth the $1k and does it hold up in value? I want to use the bike for the next 5 years at least.
I am also considering the XLab RS5 for $1400 if it’s a better option (since it comes with disc brakes and an integrated power meter).

Insane odds I see this on my feed lol. I just bought this exact bike (although I think a 2016/17 model) in a 56 yesterday in the US. Only upgrade on mine was a new carbon fork. I live in a big city where everything is way overpriced and I only paid $600 USD from a reliable refurb shop in town; I also get a year of free service/tuneups. The sticker price was 800 and I schmoozed my way down quite a bit lol. I can’t help in saying if its a good deal or not, but I love mine already haha.
Brother I wouldn’t pay 500 bucks for that. 1k u can almost get a brand new 2026 trek domane lol
$2,500 new but rim brakes? $700 would be fair.
Yeah I’d be looking at getting it for 5-600$ it needs a service and that’s not gonna be cheap
