I haven’t trued a wheel before. I measured about a 4mm bend in one section of the rim. Can this be fixed by truing? Bending back some other way? Or only a new rim will fix? The rim is on an 18” front wheel on a Marin Donky Jr.
Most likely yes. Without checking the tension of the spokes, it’s hard to know exactly what you’ll need to do true it. You can try to true it. You may have an easier time unlacing it, straightening the rim, then tension and true it.

Depends on if you can get it straight without too much spoke tension. I’ve pulled wheels with less wobble straight tuning spokes only to have them break later

Yeah that can be fixed.

A good smooth whack on the ground would get rid of most of that bend. Just be careful since its on the seam. Sharp bends like that usually come out better with a starter whack, and then true it with spoke tension to finish it up.

Depends on how round the rim is still. Likely salvageable
