Ad Municipality of Kolari I In search of the hidden gems of Finnish Lapland, Henna Palosaari and Malva Björkman set out on a three-day hut-to-hut bikepacking journey above the Arctic Circle.

With the help of local villagers, they planned a loop through the wilderness of the Kolari region, linking remote huts, gravel roads, and quiet backcountry landscapes while experiencing a lesser-known side of Finnish Lapland.

Starting directly from the Kolari railway station, the route explores the southern villages of Kolari and can be combined with the renowned Arctic Post Road, a long-distance bikepacking route that follows the remnants of the historic Copenhagen–Alta postal road through the Arctic.

This film is an invitation to slow down, discover the local culture, and experience the quiet beauty of Lapland beyond the well-known destinations.

Film created in paid partnership with Kolari Municipality.

  1. Another wonderful video from Henna. Great photography, lovely music, and full of the joy of life! P.s. the mittens at 9:30 should be wonderful. Having lived in the Northwest Territories in Canada, the caribou shoes (mucklucks) and mittens made by the natives are miles better than Western manufactured boots and gloves.
