The first bike build in my brand new workshop… and I wanted it to be something special.

This custom Officina Battaglin Cortina is handmade in Italy using a unique blend of titanium and carbon fibre, before being finished in a stunning custom paint scheme.

For this build I’ve paired Shimano GRX with XTR components to create a lightweight, reliable drivetrain that’s equally at home on long gravel adventures and fast mixed-terrain riding. Rolling on Reserve carbon wheels fitted with Vittoria Terreno tyres made using natural rubber, every component has been carefully chosen to balance performance, durability and style. The finishing touch comes from a set of beautiful titanium 5DEV cranks.

As always, this is a calm, detailed bicycle build with no unnecessary distractions—just the sounds of building one very special custom gravel bike.

  1. Great build, amazing to watch you work! You are, however, using a lot of parts and tech that you raged against in previous videos on other channels. 🙂

  2. The perfect way to relax after a hot, sticky day at work. An amazing build, a beautiful bike, and a great video. Excellent work, Nic!

  3. Beautiful bike. Make note of the hubs chosen for this build, people…. Out of all the high end choices out there he chose DT 350s. That should speak volumes, or at least make you think why a mechanic would choose them. Also really glad to see he didn’t feel obligated to run Campy because the frame is Italian. ✌

  4. Nice, love the video skills and the music ❤. Sincerely curious, is the frame aluminium and carbon? And why you chose Shimano 1×12 over SRAM 1×13 (full mount)? Edit: i read titanium in comments.

  6. 1.)
    This looks damn good!
Hope you'll enjoy your bike to it's fullest! ^^

    2.)
I wonder if by now you still have to re-shoot some segments of the video or if it's almost all in one go.
(Hopefully that was understandable, since words are not my strong side.)

  7. That’s a great build up.
I have a vintage Battaglin from 1988/89 with Campagnolo Athena group set. I am the only owner bought from the shop I worked in.

  8. Such an elegant video for a bike build ! Love watching these builds. Keep up with the great content. Bonus points for using Carmen opera songs on the next build 😊
