I was once told heat training is a poor man’s altitude training so when I heard there was a heatwave coming to the UK I headed out into the hills of the Peak District with my bike to suffer in the sunshine

  1. just got into cycling after running for years, your videos have been getting me so excited for rides… i wouldn’t worry too much about having crazy videos each time i know for people like myself even simple rides where you chat would be interesting enough

  2. Keep making videos mate. We watch your videos and subscribe to your channel because we enjoy watching you make cycling content, regardless of the perceived quality.

  3. I know what you mean about heart rate, I'm not particularly fit I'll admit, but a quick walk down to my local Lidl to grab a couple of things, then to a newsagents for filters for my Brother then back had my Heart rate up to 151 bpm from a resting 61 bpm the temperature at the time was 34 degrees Celcius.

  4. Went out there on Monday- could hardly push z2 50km into the ride. The heat wrote me off. Peak District is ELITE CYCLING though… very lucky to have that on your doorstep. Loved the energy of this vid mate.

  5. Cracking vid – This looks like good heat training for a summer riding tour here in Australia – I’d love to see you over here for Peaks Challenge next year, 235km and 4500m elevation, it’s our version of l’etape.

  6. Dan, you make great videos all the time, while the high quality production ones are very cool and greatly appreciated, I think we like all your videos

  7. That's not a heatwave, it's justa nice summers day. You need multiple consecutive days over 40c to mention a heatwave. 🇦🇺

Keep posting, I like your stuff.

  8. My heart rate is also thru the roof at easier paces when its hot like this, ive started to do some heat training on zwift in our conservatory to try adapt to it 🤣 love the videos mate long time now injured runner swapped over to road cycling and absolutely instantly addicted !

  9. Went out for a 200km loop in Cheshire yesterday and my god it felt like cycling with a hair drier pointing at your face…felt worse when I stopped and the breeze is gone, and the sun bounces off the asphalt. Honestly wondered if it was ok to be out putting efforts in when it feels like that. No idea how the pros manage worse temps than that.

  10. Excellent video and I was born in Manchester and spent many hours riding in the Peak District as a youth. What hydration sachet do you use.
