Europe is experiencing an exceptional June heatwave. Even so, people continue to cycle in temperatures above 30°C. Evening rush hour near the station in ’s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch), the Netherlands.
When you circle you get a nice breeze. Its lovely, until you stop at a crosswalk and the heat hits you. But still better than being in a car. The car feels like an oven now. I am not getting in one.
Maybe if humans across the planet would quit cutting down trees everywhere, putting down tarmac to make way for the automobile we would not feel the effects of El Nino events.
That is my kind of traffic. On bikes, people socialize more, especially at crossings. And let's not forget the health aspects of being active much more than we car dependent fools in the US.
The trick is to dress lightly and ride lightly. Don't put too much effort into it. 20km/h (about 12-15mph) is plenty fast enough. You would still be 4x faster then any pedestrian. Cars are also not travelling very much faster in the city centre (35-40km/h averidge.) If you don't want to put any effort in get an E-bike. Inside city centres that's really the quickest way to get around. Just don't ride those like an anti social moron, okay? Thnx.

The heat was a bit much, but still had to go to fysio and get some groceries. So on the bicycle it is.

Having shade from trees is really nice! If we must, we can bike without it but shade is much better.
