I bought this pannier backpack from Amazon, with the intention of putting it on the back of my bike. The arrows show which way gravity naturally pulls the bag down. The top of the image is fine, it never falls off except for the most violent of bumps.
The bottom of the photo shows that gravity wants to pull the clips off the pannier rack, especially if that half of the bag has the heavier load – which it has the laptop sleeve in it, so it kinda does. It always falls off.
I've temp fixed it with a carabiner on that side but what am I missing? How is this supposed to work?

Is this one backpack or two? Like, what does it look like ok the bike because something looks upside down to me.
The bags should be mirror images of each other. The hooks should be in the same spot, the bag closet to us is upside down.
Are you using the velcro as well as the clips? Combined it shouldn’t be falling off so long as you’ve fully clipped the clips into the rack
Can you detach the paniers from eachother? Then use both panniers with the hooks in the correct direction.
It’s a manufacturing default, return to sender.
The quality of the clips makes me believe it’s a very cheap pannier set with little QC.
Judging by the fact the the fabric of the bags are a mirror of each other on the side panels, the back piece of the lower bag has been sewn incorrectly
Buy Ortlieb others are usually rubbish.
Ortlieb is more expensive but will stand the test of time. Really nice they sell parts for their bags too
Soon the O-brand gang is going to take over this thread.
I’m sorry for your predicament and the hassel of dealing with returns but this manufacturing defect is hilarious. Several people had to screw up for this to make it out the door.
