Bikepacking through Spain and some of their train and bus systems require your bike to be partially dissambled and "packed" within a bag. This seems like a pretty loose rule around what a "bag" is and often times likes like a covering is sufficient.
– I dont need padding, this is just for bringing on trains and buses
– I need something as light and compact as possible because Ill be carrying it around while biking
– Required bag size: 140x90x40 cm. There is some leniency here as I have heard no one is checking the exact dimensions, but needs to generally be close.
– Needs to fit my P-29er Ritchey with front suspension.
I have done research and cant really find something that would fit the 29er, everything seems to fit 700c road bikes, but I worry with extra bulk of 2.5 inch mountain bike tires and stuff, it wont fit. Any advice or recommendations?

I’ve traveled with a full squish MTB. I rented a Dakine soft side roller bag. I checked it through Delta. The weight and size were small enough I didn’t have to pay extra.
I’d suggested rollers, makes it easier.

Definitely get rollers.
Japan has similar requirements for travelling on trains. I got by with [the largest Montbell Rinko bag](https://www.montbell.com/jp/en/products/detail/1130426) which pack down small and is lightweight. I don’t have 29er but there was plenty of room to spare with 650b wheels.
