Took another trip through Hungary. The initial plan was to cycle down along the border, but I took a detour to Nyíregyháza. The route was: Satu Mare -> Nyírbátor -> Nyíregyháza -> (train to) Debrecen -> Berettyóújfalu -> Gyula -> Arad. I spent an entire day in Nyíregyháza, Gyula and Arad. Crossed the border at Csenger and then back at Dombegyház.
Went to several thermal baths, cycled on some excellent bike paths and some very empty roads (the area next to the border is depopulated, many villages have a lot of abandoned houses) and luckily the weather was not too hot. However, I got very unlucky with flat tires (3 in 2 days). The last one happened because the tire tore apart, but it was in Nyíregyháza and I managed to buy another one from Decathlon.
Overall a really nice trip. You can go straight down between Satu Mare and Oradea on the Hungarian side (separated bike path all the way). Further down to Arad you have to cycle on the road and there are portions with unpleasant traffic (mainly between Gyula and Arad).
