Getting into trail riding and my current mountain bike is ancient, circa 2010. It doesn't even have disc brakes. I am not super technical yet, just basic trail riding and some downhill, no technicals and jumps yet. I am a 6'2" male. Want to get a new bike but am on a budget. Would love to keep the price kinder $1k. I know the good entry level stuff is actually starting around $1400-1500 but it is what it is at the moment. Is the gravity any good? I know the Siskiu D6 is far superior but that price on the Gravity is tempting. -OR- Does anyone know of another model in between the two I should look into?

Avoid the Gravity like the plague. Either get the Polygon or get a hardtail if you want to spend under 1K
Polygons are the cheapest “real” mountain bikes i would reccomend to anyone. Or maybe one of those popular walmart ones. The polygon is solid.
Find a used bike on Craigslist, pinkbike, or fb marketplace. Don’t get that gravity.
Buy used and you’ll be able to get a real bike that is more capable for a similar price point
I have never heard of the brand Gravity, but judging by the photo it looks like a very outdated design, mid to late 00’s.
Polygon is a reputable entry level bike brand. Whatever that other thing is, it is a BSO (Bike Shaped Object).
For a budget less than $1000, I recommend a used mid-high end hardtail that is less than 5 years old.
Get a clearance bike. Giant had a sale for awhile. Jenson has some good deals.
This is the most budget friendly bike I would trust on a trail. [Ozark Trail Full Suspension ](https://www.walmart.com/ip/29-FS-3-Fastflow-MTB-MEDIUM/15169117139?classType=REGULAR&sourceid=dsn_gdn_0c92c416-dbd6-42ec-845c-ecf69af2153d&veh=dsn&wmlspartner=dsn_gdn_0c92c416-dbd6-42ec-845c-ecf69af2153d&cn=0042_fy27_mp_mpa_lo_int_dis_pmax-p13n&expiryTime=1782162047470&c=mWebSmartBanner&vtcWeb=cKlbz9xK8X5DvlPs4inLn4)
You’ll get much better components on a hardtail in that price range, [something like this.](https://www.jensonusa.com/niner-air-9-nx-jenson-exclusive-bike)
[You can always go with one of the Ozark Trail bikes too ](https://www.walmart.com/ip/29-FS-3-Fastflow-MTB-MEDIUM/15169117139?classType=REGULAR) and just upgrade parts as they break or wear out.
Please do look up Polygon Xtrada 6, 2026 version.
This IMHO looks like a piece of junk.
Just buy the best you can get for $1000 second hand, don’t even try buying new with that budget – you’ll get crap.
Polygon, person would get a hardtail with a $1k budget.
Do not buy that Gravity. I say this as someone who had 2 bikesdirect bikes in college that were both actually pretty nice when starting out. That particular bike you posted is a waste of money.
How is this a question. Save up another $200 and get the actual mountain bike.
The Gravity is over priced by about $498.50
Of those two, the latter. First one is junk
Walmart Ozark Trail bikes are actually worth considering.
Don’t get any / polys are know to have problems and not be the most reliable and not the best quality dunno wtf the other thing is but looks shit , go on Facebook marketplace use that 1k to buy a nice 2016-2025 second hand full sus preferably one of the big brands (nukeproof yt specialised Santa Cruz bourdman merida Marin trek giant pivot yeti ) some brands like nukeproof , yeti and Santa Cruz will be hard to get at that price / or you can get a gt sensor for around that price (gt stopped production of the sensor but a phenomenal bike that’s why there so cheap)
