I probably looked like an idiot pulling over constantly to make adjustments. Drop bar kept moving, the whole stem also became loose, changing gears on this is the hardest thing I've ever encountered, etc.
Are you sure the bar/stem/steerer system are all matched to one another? There were a good number of different diameters for these parts back then.

Looks like your seat is tilted too far forward, or perhaps it’s the camera angle.

Looks like a nice one. Cool old lugged frame. Looking at the distance between the rear wheel and the seat tube it appears to have longish chain stays, meaning it was originally built as a road bike, commuter or touring cross over. Looks like a single chainring up front? If so probably set up as a commuter with alpine gearing, just guessing.
