So yeah… had a stupid low‑speed crash today and now my brand‑new Canyon Aeroad SLX 8 (literally one week old) has a nasty paint chip right by the rear dropout.
You can see it in the pic — the white paint is gone and the darker layer underneath is exposed.
I’m honestly heartbroken.

For those who’ve dealt with this kind of damage:
Should I just touch it up myself with a marker/paint and move on, or is it worth taking it to a pro for a proper repair?

Bike rides fine, but visually… ouch.

• Carbon frame damage
• Touch‑up paint
• Professional repaint

  1. That looks like a lot of paint. And that area is pretty robust. That said, if there are any cracks it’s cooked and don’t ride. Tough to tell from your photo. If there are no cracks, I could see myself putting white nail polish over it and forgetting about it. If you have any doubts, take to LBS and let them determine if it’s cracked.

  2. Ohh that is some bad luck, hopefully you are ok. That area should have enough material as long as there is no visible cracks but good idea to get it checked. You can get a touch up paint but the color will never match or look good so it depends on how you want it to look you might consider a professional

I’d touch it up, but people have their own standards. Never seen Aeroas rear triangle up close, almost thought it’s AI.
