I only have one automatic. A limited edition Invicta Sub Noma Aqua collaboration with Disney for their 30yr anniversary. It's so heavy, but I love it. And its the only watch I get compliments on.
I have an automatic 1952 Omega Seamaster. My dad got it new in 53', and wore it until 85'. He left us in 1990. I have been wearing it since. Been restored and cleaned twice since 1991. Runs great. I have been tempted to buy nice watches over the years. They're not my weakness. I have other weaknesses.
No, my uncle is a lifetime professional watch maker, and his advice is: Look to buy a watch that's comfortable , legible will serve you in every occasion
Yea, you only one or two watches, depends on ur lifestyle. But many watches to look at and wear once or twice a year? Put that money in a low cost index fund and watch ur money grow up.
Apparently you are not like me, I buy watches because I am in love with them, yeah, a weird feeling over a watch with mechanical movement that are not precise but I really donβt care, I just love them on my wrist
I used to be really into high-end cologne a few years back and it's very similar to watches. TOTAL waste of money now that I'm on the other side. There's always another, and another, and another. Watches actually do serve a function, but you dont need more than 1, maybe 2. I dont want the FAF of an automatic. Just never made sense to me. The whole point is to tell the (right) time and date!!! Solar, radio, quartz only. Perpetual calendar. It's never fkn wrong, it' just a perfect machine. There's something satisfying in that.
I never have done or ever will buy a mechanical automatic watch. They're ancient technology and none can ever be as reliable and accurate as a quartz watch.
My Tudor has the 28-24-2, runs about -.3 second per day. Thats way above COSC standards. I dont think its power reserve makes it to 40 hours. I will have to test that.
I have automatics and quartz. Heck, I even have a couple of digital Casios and two Samsung Galaxy smart watches. I never wear the same watch 2 days in a row other than using the sleep tracker on my Galaxy watch. So I'm checking the time and date every time I put a watch on.unless it's past the 30th of a 30 day month, most of the quartzes are ready to go. The CitizenAtomic Time Ecodrive NEVER need adjusting. And, of course the auto's need a wind and set. As a collector, I enjoy the zen of winding and synchronizing my auto's with the atomic time app on my phone…HACK!π
Donβt worry , g shock and citizen have them beat hands down in my opinion . Put it on and wear it , and no $2 or $300.00 service every 5 years or so.
Itβs really bad when you start feeling guilty about collecting so many watches that then start buying them for your friends (whether they like watches or not). You see them wearing a cheap watch and you just canβt stand it and so end up buying them one as well, and justify it as itβs just a βgiftβ. ππ

When all else fails, Blame Teddy. (And you, and myselfβ¦you basically laid out my watch-buying trajectory over the last thirty years.)
I do NOT need 19 watches but they don't call Teddy an "influencer" for nothing!
BULLSHIT !!!!
π If Teddy has kids, I'm helping their college fund
UUUUUUUUH I FEEL SIMULTANEOUSLY TARGETED AND PART OF THE CLUB WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Laughs in manual movement
I donβt move enough to keep it wound

Yup. Gateway watches.
He's not wrong. I am developing quite the collection.
Well this was BS JUST TO MAKE A SHORT… Zzzzzzzzz
Wishing I had more arms to wear my watches more.
You can say that again!
After building dozens of custom Seikos, I want a killer-quartz, the autos are so overrated.
Thereβs a reason the Just One More Watch channel is so popularβ¦.
Just get a quartz

All that when quartz does the same stuff but better and at incredibly lower price points
I don't touch them as they don't keep time for long if they're not worn. That's just plain dumb.

Same with guns… LOL

You forgot getting a GMT and then discover its not "true" GMT or "traveller" GMT and suddenly you need one of those.
What a lot of useless crap
This guy is NOT wrong !!!!!! haha
π π π yes. I know I'm heading in this direction…

I got a Seiko 5 SRPG35 as my first decent watch and hope to stop there. Wish me luck.
This is why I've bought Citizen eco drive promasters. Kind has most of the toys/features in there and they look good. Not too expensive either.
I love my automatic watch(es) π

A well made automatic watch is a work of Artπ€π»
Hand wound Cellini. Nuff said.
Quarz all the way
Just buy a Casio if you really care about power reserve and accuracy etc
