⛪Lost legends of the Knights Templar in Charente are hidden in plain sight, as a visit to the Templar Courtyard in La Rochelle takes us down back alleyways, discovering vestiges from centuries ago.

Modern banking and lending owe their origins in Europe to the practices of Templar warrior monks who financed the travels of pilgrims and crusaders to Antioch.

Their common point of departure by sea, along the Atlantic coast in the harbor of La Rochelle, gave its name to the Pertuis d’Antioche, the straights providing safe passage from the mainland.
