I set out on a 500km bikepacking trip across southern England, linking together three of the UK’s best-known off-road cycling routes: the Royal Chilterns Way, King Alfred’s Way and the South Downs Way.

Starting on the Dunstable Downs, I followed the Royal Chilterns Way south before joining King Alfred’s Way towards Queen Elizabeth Country Back. From there I rode the South Downs Way towards Winchester before heading north on a mixture of quiet lanes, back roads and countryside routes to reconnect with the Royal Chilterns Way and complete the loop.
This was less about speed and more about enjoying a long-distance bikepacking journey through some of England’s finest landscapes, from the Chiltern Hills to the South Downs, covering around 500 kilometres of gravel tracks, bridleways, country lanes and rolling countryside.

You're right, it's the Isle of Wight. Nice place for on and off road biking.
I live just off the KAW. Hated the bit through Reading, so have made a nice bypass which doesn't add too much extra mileage. Looks a great adventure, must be nice not to be on a mission like we are in bikepacking races .

It's the Isle of Wight ,I live here , I'm surprised you haven't cycled around it .All my bikes up until now have flat bars ,I'm finding on my new drop bar bike My forearms & hands seem to be taking too much weight ,is this something you just have to get used to ?
