After five months backpacking around South America, I’m finally back home in Darlington, England.

In this video I take you for a walk around my local area, showing the streets where I live, Eastbourne Park, and a typical British supermarket. Along the way I talk about jet lag, settling back into normal life, cycling food deliveries, and my plans for the next adventure.

After spending months travelling through Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina, it’s strange being back in familiar surroundings again.

I am an older backpacker travelling the world proving that backpacking is not just for the younger generation.

  1. What a great surprise to see this video after your recent travels. Darlington looks very British. I've never been there but have been nearby in York (1996) and my son spent Christmas 2024 in Newcastle (he wanted to see the Boxing Day match vs Aston Villa). What are the cheap resturants like? Fish & chips? A good curry place too I'd imagine. Everyplace is getting very expensive. I'll look forward to a few more videos and also would like to see a pub or two !

  2. I live in a town close to darlington called Ferryhill, it has the exact same style of housing. My question is, in the back yard, the back wall often has a little window about chest height, maybe around 2 or 3 ft squared, most have been bricked up now, but what were they used for? was it a window for the toilet area you mention?

  3. morning stu great your back an brought the weather with you, would be funny if Darlo suddenly got an influx of brazilians lol look forward to your next adventure

  4. Darlington looks quite (and quiet) nice when the sun shines. I thought the railway started in Stockton and finished in Darlington…. Jet lag is always worst going from West to East, even below the equator, just the way the body works.
