Join me on an unforgettable mountain biking journey starting from Rosthwaite, following the Cumbria Way into the Langstrath Valley to Blackpot Moss, a hidden gem popular in summer for wild swimming and cliff diving near Eagle Crag and Rosthwaite Fell. From here, the adventure ramps up as I push my bike to the top of Stake Pass, rewarded with jaw-dropping views of iconic Wainwright peaks: Pike of Stickle, Loft Crag, Pavey Ark, Thunacar Knott, and Harrison Stickle.
The route continues with a challenging ascent under the shadow of Bow Fell (across Rosette Pike) to Angle Tarn, then the final push to Esk Hause – an epic struggle, but worth it for what comes next.
The reward? England’s longest non-stop bridleway descent, starting from Esk Hause down to Sprinkling Tarn under Great End, past Great Gable and Styled Tarn, before turning onto the bridleway to Seathwaite. This descent is my personal favorite in the Lake District – technically demanding, rewarding, and offering multiple line choices for all abilities.
To finish, I hit the Castle Crag Bridleway, only to run out of battery 2 miles from the finish – a harsh reminder of the limits of an e-bike on epic rides!

This is a brilliant video not only amazing views but epic descents as well, and by the look on your face you enjoyed it all. Thanks for the ride, Karl
Well done mate looks a goodun 😊
Whatcha mean somebody in shop told you – thought you had watched my video of it in the summer 🙂
Great video Karl but what is that dreadful rattle on your bike??? Almost had to turn the sound off!
Fantasteeeeesh! Awesome ride. would love to do that one. looked epic. ive only ran out btw once, never again lol. Ive bought the Garmin 1050 for my handlebars, I kept missing turnings too lol. Glad you liked the tyres.
Fantastic edit Karl and confident riding, very well done.
Thats a big one !! Some epic views there and terrain ! Great viewing 👌🏻
Wow! Looks an epic route. Great riding aswell.
A question for you if you dont mind.
I'm looking at buying my first ebike. The one id like has a 600WH battery. Would it be an advantage to turn the motor off on long decents as youre probably riding above the motor limit. Would tgis save much battery power? Cheers Karl.
Well done Karl it’s a full on route that 👍🏻
What a descent Karl… the arm ache must have been on another level 😂. Stunning views man!
Nice route that karl ive hiked up that route to alan crag to do glalamara and seen a couple of people coming down towards sprinkling tarn an was wondering how good it would be on the bike but it would be hard on a normal hardtail push iron

Great ride mate, I can even feel the aches 🤣 Thanks for the shoutout, I'll be back soon hopefully 🤘
Epic adventure there, made me smile, and loved the interactions, may i ask if you had started again what would you do differently, and also did you use the full travel on your suspension?
Are you already riding in trail mode at the beginning section?
What size battery do you have?
What make/model of bike please?
Do you have this route on strava?
Walked round there a few times now. Great part of the lakes
Bagpipe brakes! Great vid
Looks a good one this 👍
up a struggle on an electric invalid carriage strain the wrist
That bridleway alongside Black moss pot is a shocker, did that with a bike fully loaded with camping gear for a bikepacking event, the push up stake pass wasn't much better.
That whole starting section looks like hell on earth to me!! 😃
Run looks great! Your link to Strava only takes you to your main page to follow your route!
May possibly looking to do this New Year’s Day!
Mate, you need to turn your battery off on descents.
Great riding that mate just what I want to start doing . Out of interest what size battery have you got? I’ve got a 625 will I be able to do good rides with that ?
