I ordered a brand new Canyon Aeroad and was really excited to get it built up and out on the road. While assembling it after delivery, I noticed a paint chip on the non-drive side chain stay.
I reached out to Canyon support, and they offered either a $100 refund or the option to return the bike at my own cost.
Honestly, I’m pretty disappointed. For a bike that costs $5k, I expected it to arrive in perfect condition, especially since I haven’t even ridden it yet. My SPD-SL pedals arrive tomorrow, so the bike is still brand new and unridden.
I know it’s “just paint,” but it’s one of those things I feel like I’m going to notice every time I look at the bike. Curious what others would do here. Is the $100 credit reasonable, or would you return it and start over?

Take 100 and put some nail polish on it an ride your bike.
It’s non drive side so i wouldn’t give 2 flying fucks about it.
But your aereo is now compromised and you’re never getting KoM for that 300m 0,5% sector behind your house.
Return it, it is on the side you see it before every ride
i keep if i were you
because white paint chipping is easier to fix
and i dont want spend another 2 week to get brand new bike with same color
I’m always surprised how shit canyon support is across the pond. Why the f do you have to pay for return costs?
I’d return it. But refuse covering the cost
Return and choose an other color. I regret my Crystal white. Soon I will ask a new frame, because it’s turning yellow and something’s wrong at the dropout + minor cracks around the fork crown.

Ask for 150€ and say that that’s okay for you. Else you want another bike.
