I just started practicing jumps. I started with some small ones on a local trail. I swear when I hit the jump it felt like I was 5 feet off the ground, soaring through the air. I was shocked when I checked the video and it looks like I got 6 inches of air.

Needless to say. If little jumps feel that exhilarating, I don’t think I’ll have to try anything bigger.

dude that adrenaline rush is real though. i remember my first time clearing a decent lip and i was convinced i was airborne for like three seconds, then watched the footage and it was barely a second. your brain’s just firing on all cylinders when you’re actually doing it so everything feels way more intense than it looks on camera.

the good news is that feeling doesn’t go away even when you actually start sending bigger stuff. you’ll get desensitized to the height but the rush stays there, just at higher jumps. so you’re already hooked and you don’t even know it yet.

  2. This is why i don’t video tape my jumps, I don’t need reality ruining the feeling I get from a tiny kicker 🙏

    Hell yeah dude!

It’s all steps, dude. 1% every day.

I have a video of me in 2019 hitting a drop about this big. I was so stoked on it. It was the gnarliest thing I had done at the time.

I’m going straight for the double black jump lines at the bike park these days.

Don’t rush progress and have fun. If you keep at it, get your technique right, and ride a lot. You’ll be blasting 30 ft tables for breakfast in a few years.
