Hi everyone, I recently bought a Trek Checkpoint ALR 4 and I’m still getting used to it. I’m trying to remove the wheels for transport/cleaning but I’m not 100% sure of the correct process.
It looks like it uses thru-axles rather than quick release, but I don’t want to mess anything up or damage the brake rotors.
Can anyone explain the proper way to remove both the front and rear wheels (and refit them correctly)? Any tips for a beginner would be appreciated.

I think there’s a rention nut on the other side. Can you send pictures of the other side.
You turn the 6mm hex on the disc brake side towards the front of the bike to loosen
You remove the thruaxles from the brake side. You‘ll need a hex key (if that’s the right English translation) for it. Make sure when putting the thru axles back in, that you tighten the thruaxles to the given torque.
I recommend watching a YouTube video about removing the back wheel, because it can be fiddly in the beginning taking it out.
Quite simple, as others have responded with instructions. If you have doubt, just bring the bike to LBS and have them show you once.
my trek bike came with this tool and is always attached on my front wheel. You can remove it and use it to remove any wheel.
