Dont worry op – I think its cringe of the bikepacking subreddit to remove your post

I liked your post. Loved to see the BMX all geared up for an adventure.

At the same time, you did not follow the rules of the sub. I didn’t know what they were so I went and read them.

It’s pretty clear, it’s a sub for “off pavement cycling and camping”.
They also mention in the rules that bike pics aren’t the most welcome so if you do want to post it you must do so in a “completely wild setting”.

I get that it can be frustrating, but I wouldn’t chalk it up to r/bikepacking being insecure. You just posted on the wrong subreddit, that’s all.

  3. To some degree the mods have to remove it because if they don’t, they’ll get inundated with similar off topic posts. It’s reddit so they may have removed it out of spite, but it could have just as well been pragmatic. There are other subs that would have been a better fit for your post. r_bikepacking is not typically prejudiced against specific bikes. I think you’re over reacting a bit.

TLDR- bike riders are fucking nerds.
Techincally (insert that meme here) bikepacking is riding on mountain bike trails with gear tied to your bike. Bicycle touring or dirt touring is riding roads or forest roads with gear tied to your bike. What it comes down to (to them) is the type of gear you’re using- panniers and racks usually means touring. Whereas a seatpack, frame bag, and some sort of handlebar setup (no racks) means bikepacking. If you ask me, i don’t care enough about the name of the activity, it just sets me free just as much as it challenges and humbles me. Fuck the haters and have fun on your ride

tbh even in this sub i find pics of bikes boring like 90% of the time. Every now and then I see a creative color scheme or build that is interesting but judging by the thumbnail in your pic YTA

    You’re totally bike packing.

I think bikes have so many genres that it affords the luxury of perceived exclusivity and not a broader sense of community. I’m guilty of it. I hate road bikers because they’re entitled acting and do stupid shit in heavy traffic. My in-laws are avid cyclists who ride MTB and road bikes and only see any validity in BMX where it overlaps MTB riding.

And sometimes mods border on being trolls themselves.

    Safe travels.
