  1. he is ready to participate, but I would think he would have been better off doing the Giro or Vuelta first, and next year TdF. Guess his team thinks its commercial better he will do the TdF this year.

  2. He still got a good workout in that race despite coming a cropper which is all part of the game. Being young and motivated you can bet he will soon be out training again asap . Probably kicking himself for coming off at a critical stage of the race.

  3. We’ve been here before, how many talents have we seen crash and burn in France?. His a kid, the TDF is on another level. He can go, but I’m not expecting a GC ride. I would throw him into the Vuelta first.

  4. I am hopeful for Paul Seixas. This sport needs as many excitement factors to draw attention other than Pogi and Jonas. We had Bini in 2024 and Florian in 2025. The Tour de France is the largest, most popular pro cycling grande tour (from an American perspective). I just want Seixas to complete his first TDF and ride into Paris on the last day, maybe with a white jersey on his shoulders.

  5. Yes, he has shown demon descending attitude, but he is erratic and throws his bike into curves. It just proved to be a fault and will bite him again unless he learns to set up better into curves and temper his aggressiveness.

  6. Even if he is 100% ready for the tour, it doesn't matter because everything depends on Pogacar and he is in better shape than ever so everyone knows what will happen but we just have to keep the tension up and keep the audience interested so that there is "intrigue"😂

  7. He's not ready. He looked horrible last week. He was weak, indecisive, knowing the world was looking on.

Too much pressure for a young dude. How else do you explain that the first 4 stages were won by breakaway…

  8. The fact he didn't retire after the crash was stupid and reckless, both from the team and Seixas. I don't really se why we should congratulate stupid decisions.

  9. Paul could have lost his life at 19 years old on stage 7 of Tour Auvergne some days ago. Or could have been injured very bad and put an end to his cycling carreer, at 19 yo!!! Too much pressure for a teenager. At 19, he took a terrible risk at descending, due to his lack of experience in life. Shame on his team Decathlon for letting him ride stage 8. By no means he needed to ride that tough stage. He needed to start recovering from his crash. If you really apreciate the talent of this young man, let him grow, take care of him, and don't let him participate in TDF 2026, as Bernard Hinault wisely said some months ago. Paul Seixas is being a victim of his team, media, and fans. Poor guy.

  10. I hope he does well, I'm curious to see it but for now let's not pretend he can threaten Pogacar or Vingegaard.
These guys are better in every regard for now, he'll try to fight for the podium but that's about it.
I'd be impressed if he finishes the Tour already.
Maybe in two-three years it'll be different as they get older and he steps into his prime.

  11. I don't believe he is ready physically or mentally. Good numbers don't always equate to wins. We will see what happens with this experiment. Wish him the best.

  12. The real question should be: is the TDF really ready for Seixas? If his team is strong enough, and he handles things well, how will visma or bora deal w him? If they fixate too much on Tadej, that could present opportunities for Seixas.

  13. Let me explain how little it matters if kid is ready or not:
Tadej Pogacar The Goat and the cry baby Jonas are about to go in all out war, the most difficult war the world of cycling has ever seen. I predict the kid if he participates will quiet half way the race, if he tries to keep up with them. If I was his coach I would keep him in the team for TDF and tell him just to go and train/learn and maybe go for a stage win. If he tries to follow the big boy and the Jonas the B… it will destroy him physically, he is way too young to challenge his body will multiple stages expected to be over 7+ watts… . If Tadej has managed to taper on time, we will see multiple stages well over 7 watts per kilogram on steepest parts.

  14. Dane and Vingegaard fan here. I really like Seixas. His way of riding, his approach, his demeanor. He also handles the pressure really well; he seems relaxed and confident but not to the point of arrogance. If anyone can handle the massive expectations, it is Seixas.

The crash was serious enough to force him to abandon TARA, but he hasn't broken anything, so he will in all likelihood arrive at the TDF in fine form. He will not win it this year, however. Which he probably knows. He rides the TDF to gain experience and maybe a podium and/or the white jersey. Would it have been "safer" to send him to the Vuelta this year instead? Yes, but I think (hope) he can handle it.

Since 2021/22 we have had a one of the best narratives in cycling – the Pogacar-Vingegaard narrative. There have been some supporting cast. Roglic, for a time, played an important part. At one point it almost looked like Remco would become a main character, but he hasn't. Lipowitz was a breath of fresh air last year, but he is not a main character.

However, 2025 also showed that the Pogacar-Vingegaard narrative is in need of reinventing itself or perhaps be expanded. Seixas might be the one to do it. I don't think he will play a main role this year, but he might be a strong supporting character with real impact on the narrative. I hope he will. If so, this years TDF might feel like a shakeup in the Pogacar-Vingegaard narrative (without destroying it), foreshadowing the introduction of an exciting new main character next year.

  15. Impatience can get the better of him. I don't think he's the new Pogačar. He's definitely a talented and very promising rider, but he could end up falling below average in 2 or 3 years because he was destroyed at such a young age.
