In today’s video I continue exploring Dunkirk (Dunkerque), but this time it’s all about the beach, World War 2 history and a surprise cycling event happening around the city.
I walk the entire beach from the pier all the way to the German WW2 bunkers that still remain on the sand today. Along the route I stop to read the information boards about Operation Dynamo and the famous Dunkirk evacuation of 1940.
This turned into a HUGE walking day with a total of 36,000 steps by the end of it! 😅
While exploring I also come across a film crew filming on the beach which was an unexpected surprise. Then the following day I finish off the beach tour while the famous 4 Jours de Dunkerque / Grand Prix des Hauts-de-France cycling race was passing through Dunkerque, so I filmed a little bit of the action as well. 🚴
So this video has a mix of history, beach walking, WW2 locations and even live cycling race atmosphere around the city.

Well, you're not the first English man who has tried to find his way to Dunkirk beach, but not many of the others went via a pizza restaurant 😂
Those dunes gave you a good work out, ice cream well earned mate 😅
Remind me and I'll tell you some stories about the behind the scenes filming of the Dunkirk movie and how I shared a scene with Kenneth Branagh.
