I bought this 2000s (03?) Bianchi Cross Concept last week and while I have a 90s Specialized Hardrock as a commuter which has a rear rack mounted with panniers, I'd like to try this as well. Since this has a carbon fiber rear triangle what are my best options? My Timbuk2 tandem panniers strap to the sides of a rack as well, so I can't see it working with a rack that just extends off the seat. Realistically I am just carrying a laptop and a change of clothes. Thanks in advance!

the ends of those seat stays are aluminum. I would mount up a rack just like on my road bike that has no rack mounts: insulated P-clamps down near the dropouts, and a Problem Solvers seat post clamp with rack mount bosses. I have 2 bikes set up that way, and my road bike has almost 25,000 miles with that setup. It’s an aluminum frame, but if you mount them down there at the aluminum ends, you shouldn’t have any issues.

Axiom Streamliner rack is made for this. I recommend using a seatpost collar with mounting points for the support arms over the brake bridge.
