I am trying to turn a old road bike i bought for the trainer to a light gravel bike so I can take my toddler son on gravel paths using the minibiker bike seat pro.

I dont want to buy a new bike or use a random walmart mountain bike or something.

I have a Raleigh Cadent Two Zero. Beautiful bike, tiagra flight deck, tektro brakes, tiagra front derailleur 3 chain rings, shimano 105 rear derailleur. Alex dc 19 rims with bontrager 700 x 25.

I think there is enough clearance for 30 panaracer gravelkingsk, gonna try that, if not then will go with 700×28 same tire. Has clip in look, will change to flat pedals oneup composite. Right now bar is 40 wide, will change to 44 ritchey comp venturemax v2. Will get a tune up after all is done. Probably should get front gear shifting dialed in.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks

  1. Sounds like you know what to do. Don’t get your hopes up about fitting 30mm tires; they may not clear the brakes.
