My Brompton P line tyres just failed sooner than expected. Have been riding roads and pavements only. Considering the continental urban contact. Any long term experience with both Schwalbe one vs Continental ? The only issue apart from longevity I had with the schwalbe is i feel like its too slippery on rainy days and i cant seem to get enough confidence riding.

Do your wheels ever skid when you brake?
hmmmmm …. less than 1500km would be something I worried…. I have my 700c version of One on my road bike and it lasts 3000km… if 349 spec 1500-2000km should be some realistic figure I should look at…
If rider is bit heavier I might suggest something beefy like Marathon lines…
That’s a low distance for schwalbe tyres so I understand your concerns.
Can I ask your tyre pressure? As already asked do you find yourself skidding, or do you have a lot of climbs? What weight are you riding with? What are the road conditions like that you ride on, in this county they are often surface dressing it’s rideable but hard on tyres. Another reason is getting to hot how are you storing your bike is it in direct sunlight. You should be realistically getting 2000-5000km on tyres.
Conti tyres are great, but in the above conditions you won’t get any better distances
The Continentals are the best and I will die on that hill. Purchased and them installed the day I bought my P line in 2022. 4 years later, I still haven’t had to change the tyres. The groves are still nice and deep, no skidding issues (and even in rain no issues, just brake slowly and earlier). I’ve only had one flat and only changed one tube once.
I had the EXACT same experience with my Schwalbe Ones. They lasted about a year and less than 2000km. Mostly somewhat decent paved roads.
Two things I think added to the accelerated wear: high road temperature (Shenzhen), and heavy load (I’m over 90kg).
I’ve since switched to Continental Contact Urbans and while I haven’t had them long enough to see if they last longer, they are half the price for almost the same ride feel AND they have a reflective strip.
The Schwable One tyres are very lightweight tyres consequently they can and do wear our very quickly OP. Pressure, riding style, braking and terrain can all play an issue in this.
The One rides nicer but isn’t as robust. Urban Contacts are a decent ride and more puncture resistant. They’re both at the “ride nicely, get puntures” end of the tyre spectrum tho
