Randonneur in the making

My friend has tasked me to rebuild an old bike, and so I am!

Step one: full respray in British racing green, with decals: done! It gets to spend a week in the hottest room of the house now to properly harden the paint.

Next up: build it up and finish brazing the custom stainless steel rack! It will be built up with a Deda piega compact drop bar, downtube shifter, STX MTB rear derailleur, 13-32 8s freewheel, stainless steel fenders and Panaracer Pasela tires. My friend is getting a crazy deal on this rebuild because I'm also using it as a practice project. (A little under €600 incl paint, see the before picture at the end) will post finished pic in a few weeks when done.

Fun backstory on the bike: I originally built a single speed mustache bar bike and sold it to my friend in 2021. 5 years later the bike has seen a lot of abuse and has had some stuff replaced with suboptimal alternatives. Time to make this bike better than it ever has been!

And yes… I know the top tube logos are reversed, left side sticker on the right and the right side sticker on the left 🥲 nothing I can do about it anymore.
