Hey all,
My wife and I toured 1850 miles with our 6 kids, and are FINALLY prepping videos for it. We've created the first two, but would really love to know what other questions people have about doing this sort of expedition.
Here are some details:
Our kids were ages 3 to 14
We rode from Marseille to Amsterdam using the 17 and 15
The youngest who rode was 8, 1650 of the 1850 miles.
We pulled her with a tow rope, and follow me tandem for the rest.
We used a chariot stroller for the youngest two
We had a shotgun seat to keep the kids entertained and to help them feel included.
The 10, 12, and 14 year olds carried panniers
My biggest tip for touring with kids is threefold, tons of food, liquid, and positivity! and to move slow… though that can be debated. move slow as opposed to fast with lots of stops.
What other questions would you have about a trip like this?
In case you're interested, here's a link to the YouTube videos. We've posted two of them, and will be posting the rest of the trip weekly.

Wow, great effort! Making great memories with the kids, this will stick to their heads for quite a while.
Keep your kids off YouTube.
Doing anything with 6 kids … respect.
Genuine question, was it actually any fun? From a logistical perspective I can’t even imagine the stress and worry you put yourselves under thinking about everything that could go wrong with 6 kids on the road.. do you get any sleep?
Non genuine question, are you aware of contraception? Since the invention of mechanical agriculture I don’t think anyone is intentionally having that many kids unless they are planning a commune somewhere 😂
6 kids feels like a lot. You’re made of tougher stuff than me.

Very impressive! Also, solid route choice. Lots to see and do and mostly relaxed cycling without too much traffic and still enough infrastructure like groceries, campground and healthcare along the way. I’m partial to the EV15 on the French side from Mannheim to Basel as opposed to the German side, cause it’s mostly set along car-free canals.
Girlfriend and I did the 17 from Genéve to Lyon via Aix-Les-Bains and Grenoble a few years ago and that was also a blast.
I assume y’all are from the US? How can you possibly have had enough vacation days for this?
Edit: your personal info is visible in the first picture on one of the panniers.
