  1. This is weird, so full points. But I still would get a small frame and add reach and seat post which helps standover and maybe adds useful flex. And smaller is usually easier to find.

  2. Stem backwards is mad but honestly if the reach works that’s what matters, beats buying a whole new frame.

  3. Not entirely bananas, there are was a Seth bike hacks video showing a reverse raised bike stem for MTB that looked sorta interesting,. Not sure what it was solving mind you.

Enjoy buddy, but don’t discount straight bars with some sick bullhorns, road to brakes kinda suck even with pull ratio adapters.

Of course, you do you. Honestly I love the colors of that stem. It’s gorgeous. I would think this reverse rake would cause handling problems. Do you have any problems with the front end popping up while climbing? I had this when my stem was too high.

  5. Wrong sub

    r/BicyclingCirclejerk is thataway

also you’ll need some jtec travel agents for those brakes

  6. Reach on bikes are usually way too long for me too. Love this. Do that with my kids strider too.

forrealz, please sell this frame to someone who’ll fit it and get a Trek FX hybrid.

  8. I thought mmm looks a bit shit if i’m honest but I’m not sure why? got to pic 3 ….Bingo that’s why.

  9. My wild guess is that it will be ok until you pick up some speed. People can ride reverse steer bikes, so, maybe it will just take some getting used to.

What really pickles my brain is trying to think about how this would feel at counter-steer speeds.

And… That’s a brifter, right? You haven’t cabled you brake into your derailleur, have you? HAVE YOU!?

Ok, I know you haven’t done that, but looking at this bike makes me think all bets are off.

Seat that high and stem turned like this, i bet you have some weird body proportions 😄

  11. It’s unconventional, not exactly easy on the eyes but it works and does the job well. Certified Xbiking.

If Rockhoppers of this era are like the Stumpjumpers then they had very long stems on them. I put a stem on my drop bar Stumpjumper that was about 40mm shorter that original and it feels great to me.
