Hi!
I’ve already pulled the trigger on the Ultimate in the picture. It’ll be my first road bike, and I was looking for something more versatile and all-round.
That said, I’m starting to wonder if I should have gone for the Aeroad instead. My main goal is simply to end up with the better bike out of the two.
And yeah, the purple colour definitely had a significant influence on my decision. 😅
Cheers!

Ultimate seems to be abandoned and old platform. They have that infamous chain stay defect
They have very similar geometries, Aeroad is faster and barely heavier
Both will be good I’m sure. But Aeroad is the better bike
you made a great choice. congrats on a new bike!
Between these two I would always choose the aeroad. It’s faster and prettier. I honestly don’t see the point of the Ultimate anymore.
If you prefer the purple and you chose the one you prefer the look of you chose the right bike for you.
Gonna get downvoted for this but: To me the aeroad and any aero bike looks daft. Like an 8 year old boys idea of what looks cool. The classic lines of the ultimate do it for me more.
Endurace?
I love the Ultimate, been riding it for close to 3 years now, didnt regret it one day. Drove an aeroad at some occations, but it just doesnt feel as responsive as the Ultimate. Think you made a good Choice
I recently bought the Aeroad. I’m very happy with it, but you really have to be into that ‘racing vibe’. As you were looking for a more all-round road bike, I think you’ve made the right choice for yourself with the Ultimate.
I hope you enjoy lots of great rides!
I’m enjoying my ultimate for four years already, which is an older version. Since a few years, the geometry of the Ultimate is very similar to the Aeroad. That said, both would be amazing first road bikes. And the best bike is the bike that makes you want to ride more, which the purple seems to have! Sounds like your ready to start shopping for matching bibs/jersey.
Had the same dilemma and same concerns. I ultimately chose the ultimate in a cool color way and added carbon wheels and couldn’t be happier. Everyone has the Aeroad and it’s nice to have something different.
Aeroad clear winner, nearly 2x the resale value also
I think the ultimate is a spectacular bike. It’s what I ride and it feels awesome. Super responsive, comfortable on long rides and still feels super fast. I think the Aeroad gets a lot of hype because it’s the premier race bike for the pros. The reality is, unless you’re a pro I think the gains are marginal. I guess we all like to feel like a pro when we ride but the average person is not getting the full spectrum of capabilities out of these bikes, so with that being said I think the Ultimate is the better choice.
I just made the same choice. Went with the ultimate. Looks cooler. More fun
Endurance the new one is FIRE unless ur always on flats than go aeroad
I think it matters what size you are. I’m 6’4” and went for an Aeroad. It’s actually less aggressive in geometry than my Cx/gravel bike so I find it amazingly comfy and oh-so-fast! I love it, and it’s light enough to handle alpe d’huez and other big climbs comfortably. I’m no racer but I do enjoy a tempo run out for an hour or two and this bike really puts a smile on my face. I’m sure ultimate is just as good, but my point is the geometry differs quite a bit between small medium and large frames, if you’re a bigger rider and worried about comfort on the aeroad, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
