It fell of my bar end in a huge hurry, its about 1,2 meters and it fell onto concrete. I have checked the spot by smacking on it and it does not feel amy diffrent to the undamaged parts. Its mainly the finish that is cracked I think, I couldnt notice anything on the styrofoam inside. It mainly looks like the paint is just chipping, I am so scared, it was so stupid š

Itās not even thawed out
looks fine to me
Bruh, that scratch looks like it could have come from my gear bag.. š¤·āāļø
Itās fine. And you can trust me, a person you donāt know on the internet.
This question gets asked a lot, and the responses usually range from āany damage is too much, donāt risk your brainā to āthat damage is insignificant relative to what the helmet is designed to absorb, keep it.ā
Personally I would keep using it.
The problem with helmets is that they are designed to break (this is a good thing), they’re disposable items. If it just fell maybe there wasn’t enough force to compress it to any significant degree, but who knows…Ā
It’s a judgement call at this point. I cannot advice you to continue using it, but if you took that decision I cannot blame you and probably I’d do the same.
Probably ok.
Any damage = new helmet. If you have to ask, replace. Most helmets even say on the papers or a sticker āreplace after a fall even if no visible damageā. A dropped helmet is technically compromised regardless of what anybody says.
It’s fine
It’s fine, the Rebel Forces take much more damage than that.
Usually the answer is a new helmet, but it falling from your bike, is probably okay. But itās your head youāre gambling not mine.
Hello, Iāve worked in the helmet industry for +8 years, and test helmets daily (both by wearing them and by actually putting them in a drop-rig and analyze the results). Of course I canāt tell you what to do without analyzing your helmet and it all comes down to your safety, but I can give you some info and let you decide what you are comfortable with.
What happens when you crash is that the EPS/EPP (the styrofoam like substance on the inside) gets compressed and looses some of its impact reducing properties.
In a real crash, the forces on the helmet can reach over 700kg which permanently dents or cracks the EPS/EPP. A drop from 1m w/o a full body to follow does not reach even close to those forces.
If you drop your helmet enough times you will have reduced the impact protection enough that it could warrant for a new helmet. Even leaving it out in the sun over a longer period of time would (UV ages plastic quicker).
There are different components to your helmet, outer hardshell, EPS/EPP, straps, and sometimes even different in-molded cages among other things.
You have mainly cracked the outer hardshell which does have protective properties, but I would argue that the EPS/EPP is not that affected.
The crack does affect the structural integrity of the rest of the hardshell.
So, keep in mind that even if you havenāt crashed which could instantly warrant for a new helmet, things like dropping the helmet, exposing it to weather, riding and time/aging builds up.
With this info, I hope you can make a judgement your comfortable with.
Stay safe.
