TODAY’S SUBJECT is a bike ride to Stoke Golding to get some drone footage for a gentleman who lives in a new house near a balancing pond.

I am retired from two careers of primary school teaching when I was deputy head of a Middle School and Primary School, and as a self employed Chalkboard Artist from 2002 until I reached the grand old age of 65 in 2016. Since I retired it’s like a second childhood but with more expensive toys.

I play guitar and write songs and have written about 14 songs for the local BBC radio station. I run a weekly (weakly) evening Acoustic session at a local pub and have been doing so for 14 years now.

Such a shame to see Village pubs closing down all down to the internet John thanks.
Think they're called balancing ponds cos they are there to balance the rainfall so it doesn't flood when it's drained away
John, I always think on your videos that you bike helmet looks nice and compact, compared to most I've ever worn which seem enormous. Can I ask what model your's is? Cheers.
Attenuation pond , in heavy rainfall it holds back incoming volume which then discharges slowly into the surface water sewer or watercourse , preventing g flooding.

I'm glad to see that planners are now incorporating balancing ponds in their new developments.
Is the solar panel "farm" private, or a community project ? It would be interesting to know how effective it is, & I am always surprised to see that the land beneath them rarely seems to be used (by raising them).
It's heartening to see their local church is still a social focal point, reinforcing the community (even if only a few times each year).
