Got a cheap 2022 Rockhopper Comp 29 for $170 on facebook. Everything works on it except the fork which only goes do maybe 25mm or so.
Looking for a budget air fork to upgrade this really meh fork. Straight steerer, 9mm qr, and something maybe 120mm-140mm for street and offroad.

Putting anything more than a 120 would be way overforking it imo- that being said look on marketplace for rockshox recons, judys, etc
You will struggle to find a straight steerer, do not be tempted by the £100 Amazon air forks, the one I bought had so much rattle I wouldn’t trust it with a drop curb
As your fork question is already answered: Swap those pedals for something proper! Pedals really are a game changer if you are upgrading from crap like the ones installed on this bike
