The Brian Chapman is one of the icons of long distance cycling in the UK. In a weekend, riders take on 600km of Wales, from Chepstow in the South, up to Eryri and the legendary Pen Y Pas and Anglesea before returning via Mid Wales and the Borders.
Along the way they get whatever weather Wales wants to serve up and some of the most stunning scenery to be seen from a bike.
Film maker Fergus Coyle followed the riders in May 2026 as part of his project to record a year of Audax cycling.
There are over 600 different challenges to be found on the Audax UK web page where volunteer organisers offer curated routes – from 50km tp 600km and more

Top work all. Lovely job.
Brilliant video! The scenery looks incredible. I’d signed up to the event but fell ill so couldn’t ride. This makes me even more excited for next year though!
a treasure, thank you
What a fantastic video. Captures Wales and Audax perfectly. Thank you.
Great video. A lovely reminder of a tough but enjoyable event.
I love these short films. Great videography and drone footage. Brilliant 👍
25:12 attempting to describe unknown pleasures… 😉
Thanks to Will and all the volunteers and Fergus and his spacecraft. I wish I'd paid better attention about the granny gear at Kings.
Fergus… you’ve outdone yourself! Beautiful!! Especially the custard bowl hand model!!
